It is clear that Hef has screwed many playboys, but not playboy itself. Without Hef, playboy is nothing. For a franchise based on naked women, this old man is a symbol. The bunny is one, but Hef is two. There is nothing that can save the company anyway. Playboy is a dying franchise, only kept alive by prestige and Hef is part of that prestige.
