Prosecution challenges the argument that "No one has any right to say or tell a non government group anything. "
At the very least, within the United States, citizens' Rights to Freedom Of Speech DO allow citizens the Right to question the ethics of ANY voting process. Whether that voting process is for election of a government official or the voting process for a reward or an award of ANY individual.
Many awards, rewards, and even elections have been challenged in various forms. While this prosecutor does not attempt to influence the committee after the fact, this prosecutor DOES question the honor and ethics in the judging process itself.
One such challenge to said process is the fact that President Obama's reign as the US President has only just begun. The full effect, positive or negative, of his reign as President cannot possibly be evaluated if he is no where near the end of his first 4 years as President.
He has not shown that he deserves such an award at this time. |

Obama made all of us think differently and understand that we should all talk and respect each other. I dont know if it had any effect yet, but if it did i think obama deserve it, as it might be the change in the world we are all looking for. |

Did Mr. Obama nominate himself? No. That is not possible. So why would anybody have anything to say about it? No one has any right to say or tell a non government group anything. |

I did not say this was an American award. No where in my statement did I say it was an American award.
What I did say was:
"At the very least, within the United States, citizens' Rights to Freedom Of Speech DO allow citizens the Right to question the ethics of ANY voting process. "
As a citizen of the United States, my Right to comment, positively or negatively, regarding ANY issue is protected. What other countries decide to allow their citizens to say or not say is their choice.
However, as a citizen of the United States, I DO have the Right to Freedom of Speech and to offer my opinion regarding ANY issue.
Nor did I say that a non-American entity didn't have the Right to give such an award. They are free to do so. I DO, however, have the Right to criticize that award, the reason for the award, and the method and reasoning for giving and to whom it is given. As such, I have the Right to question whether any such award is offered ethically and honorably. |
